The Bethune-Cookman College baseball program started in 1971, Stan Jefferson was the first former Wildcat to make it to the Major League level. In 2007, the Board of Trustees changed their name to Bethune-Cookman University.
On September 20, 1986 , just 13 days after his Major League debut, former Wildcat Stan Jefferson hit his first major league home run in the sixth inning off Tom Hume making Stan the first former B-CC player with a major league home run as well.
