2000 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot

On December 1, 1999, the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) began voting for future inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame . The ballot below is an actual example of the one used by writers during the election and it had to be returned by December 31, 1999. Election results will be announced on January 11, 2000.

The ballot contained the names of thirty eligible candidates including players who received at least 5% of the ballots cast in 1999, and first year players that are selected by a screening committe and designated by a '+' next to their name on the sample ballot.

"If the human body recognized agony and frustration, people would never run marathons, have babies, or play baseball." - Carlton Fisk

After the votes are counted, anyone who receives 75% of the ballots cast will be enshrined into the National Baseball Hall of Fame !

Members of the Baseball Writers Association of America may vote for a maximum of ten candidates, but do not need to select that amount!

Members of the Baseball Writers Association of America must have at least ten years experience "writing within the baseball field!"
