Stats for Hall of Fame Pitchers

So why have these pitchers been placed into the National Baseball Hall of Fame? The following chart briefly illustrates the statistical accomplishments of each pitcher currently enshrined in Cooperstown.

The chart is meant to serve as a quick compilation of lifetime statistics meant for easy comparison side-by-side comparison. Full stats for each player can be found by clicking on the player's name or by visiting our Player Stats section located on the main menu.

Important Note : This chart does not include side-by-side comparisons for the ten Hall of Fame pitchers who spent all (or almost all) of their careers in the Negro Leagues (Baseball Almanac does not have the data from the Negro League). Those truly elite ten are: Ray Brown, Andy Cooper, Leon Day, Martin Dihigo, Bill Foster, Jose Mendez, Satchel Paige , Bullet Rogan, Hilton Smith and Joe Williams.

"It will be a great honor if I'm voted in (to the National Baseball Hall of Fame), but it's something a player should never expect will happen." - Warren Spahn (Hall of Fame Class of 1973 in The Gigantic Book of Baseball Quotations , Wayne Stewawrt, Skyhorse Publishing, 10/17/2007, Page 319)

Stats for Hall of Fame Pitchers

Dizzy Dean lost the fewest amount of games as illustrated, but did you know that he averaged over twenty wins during his first five seasons?

Who was the most dominant pitcher of the nineteenth century? How about Amos Rusie who won more than thirty games three times and twenty games eight times. Take a moment and agree or disagree on our message boards .

Connie Mack referred to Rube Waddell , who led the American League in strikeouts six consecutive seasons, as the greatest left handed pitcher in history.
