The Louisville Grays were charter members of the National League and their owner was a shrewd busnessman named Walter Haldeman.
What happened to the club? They were expelled from the National League in 1877 due to a gambling scandal that resulted in the lifetime ban of four players: Bill Craver (shortstop), Jim Devlin (pitcher), George Hall (outfielder), and Al Nichols (third base).
