Providence Grays Managers & Finishes

The Providence Grays played their home games at Messer Street Grounds which was the first ballpark to have a screen behind home plate to protect the fans from foul balls.

Did you know that the Grays were expelled because they failed to complete the schedule given to them by the National League? If you enjoy this type of baseball history, please try out Baseball Almanac's message board which includes forums on baseball history, trivia, current events, and much more.

During the 1884 season, Old Hoss Radbourn won a single season record fifty nine games and all three games of the matchup between the American Association pennant winner (New York Metropolitans) in the "championship of the United States."
