Kris Benson Stats

Kris Benson was born on Thursday, November 7, 1974, in Superior, Wisconsin. Benson was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 9, 1999, with the Pittsburgh Pirates. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Kris Benson baseball stats page.

"(Kris) Benson has a four-pitch repertoire with a fastball that reaches 96 MPH and averages 93, a sharp-breaking slider, a curveball and changeup. While he's a power pitcher, he sometimes tries to finesse his way through a lineup by using all of his pitches. That gets him into trouble as he runs up high pitch counts early in games. Benson had problems at times controlling his tailing fastball last season, but it's a major weapon when he gets it in the strike zone. He is a studious pitcher who watches plenty of tape and keeps copious notes on each hitter in the league." - Scouting Report by Stats Inc. (2003)
