Richard Stanley Brodowski was a Major League Baseball player who pitched for the Boston Red Sox ( 1952 , 1955 ), Washington Senators ( 1956 - 1957 ) and Cleveland Indians ( 1958 - 1959 ). Dick, his nickname, was an incredibly humble ballplayer who once shared with us a cherished memory; throwing a complete game ( June 30, 1952 ), in Yankee Stadium , and defeating the Bronx Bombers (4-3) when he was only 19 years old!

Did you know that Dick Brodowski played shortstop in high school (third in the minors), was scouted by several Major League Baseball team , signed by BoSox scout Bill McCarren, and he was the first Sweeney High School (Bayonne, NJ) alum to make it to the majors ?
