Bill Doran Stats

Bill Doran was born on Wednesday, May 28, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Doran was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 6, 1982, with the Houston Astros. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Bill Doran baseball stats page.

"Bill Doran was another of our valuable young veterans. He was one of those little guys -- a real battler -- who got his uniform dirty every game. He had a little pop in his bat as well, and he could steal some bases, too. He was a victim of playing in the Ryne Sandberg era. Doran was overshadowed by Sandberg , whose reputation made sure he kept winning the Gold Glove Award year after year. There were a couple of years when Doran should have won it." - Sportscaster Milo Hamilton in Making Airwaves: 60 Years at Milo's Microphone (Dan Schlossberg, Sports Publishing LLC, 03/01/2006)
