"He's (Yovani Gallardo) proven, year in and year out, he's going to be able to compete and give you a chance to win games. From watching from the other side, watching him on the mound, I love the guy's mentality on the mound and how he goes after it. He's as consistent a starter as there's been. Not only does it help our staff because he's a great pitcher, it also makes the staff that much deeper and everybody feed off each other." - Baltimore Orioles catcher Matt Wieters (02/21/2016, 'Orioles' deal with right-hander Yovani Gallardo 'says a lot about the commitment to winning,' Source )

On April 29, 2009 , Yovani Gallardo became just the third pitcher in Major League history to win a 1-0 game while recording at least 10 strikeouts and hitting a home run (off Ian Snell ) - the others two were Hall of Famer twirlers Red Ruffing ( August 13, 1932 ) and Early Wynn ( May 1, 1959 ).

Yovani Gallardo led all Major League pitchers in 2010 with 4 home runs, 10 RBI, and a .254 (16-for-63) batting average, earning him a Silver Slugger Award - the first ever won by a Milwaukee Brewers pitcher.
