Lawrence Cyril Gura was a Major League Baseball player who pitched for the Chicago Cubs New York Yankees (1974–1975) and Kansas City Royals (1976–1985). Larry was a standout pitcher at Joliet High School (inaugural hall of famer) and earned a scholarship to Arizona State University where he helped the Sun Devils win a national championship!

In 1992, Larry Gura was inducted into the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame, a two-time Royals Pitcher of the Year who won 99 games across seven seasons (1979-1984) in KC - just the fourth starting pitcher ever enshrined, joining Steve Busby (1986), Paul Splittorff (1987) and Dennis Leonard (1989).
