Jack Meyer Stats

Jack Meyer was born on Wednesday, March 23, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Meyer was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 16, 1955, with the Philadelphia Phillies. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Jack Meyer baseball stats page.

"He (Jack Meyer) was the local boy who'd made it when he was called up from a Phillies' farm club and came back to his home town to pitch for the home team. And certainly his first season was exciting: he was responsible for saving 16 games as a reliever. But the 6 years that followed showed no improvement, even though he had good stuff and everybody was for him. The final act came when he was killed in an automobile accident in 1967, appropriately enough, in Philadelphia." - Author Fred C. Harris in The Great American Baseball Card Flipping, Trading, and Bubble Gum Book (Mariner Books, 04/08/1991)
