Pitching Charts

In ballparks and backyards across America, children play baseball while pretending to be Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Mariano Rivera, or some other famous pitcher. The kids know as Greg Maddux said with tongue in cheek, "Chicks dig the long ball." Many of those pitcher-idols dominate the pitching charts. The following baseball pitching clubs and Top 1,000 pitching charts are meant to answer virtually any question you may have about the all-time leaderboards for most-pitching stats.

"A pitcher is not a ballplayer." - Christy Mathewson in The Old Ball Game: How John McGraw, Christy Mathewson, and the New York Giants Created Modern Baseball (Frank Deford, Grove Press Publisher, 03/03/2006, Page 14)

During the 1876 season Candy Cummings pitched two complete games in the same day and won them both, becoming the first player in history to complete this task.

Did you know that in 1908 pitcher Ed Reulbach became the first and only pitcher in Major League history to ever throw two complete game shutouts on the same day?

From 1962 until 1977 pitcher Jim Kaat won every pitching Gold Glove Award in his league. Sixteen total Gold Gloves for defensive superiority and they were all awarded back to back!
