Joshua Evan Bell is a active Major League Baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2016-Today). Josh, his nickname, was the third ( Kevin Hart & Michael Hollimon ) big leaguer out of Dallas Jesuit College Prep, and his $5 million dollar signing bonus was a record for a player not drafted in the first round (2nd round in 2011 Draft ).

Josh Bell hit 26 home runs during his rookie season (2017), well shy of the record for most home runs in a season by a rookie , set by Aaron Judge (52 HRs) in 2017; however, Bell's total was one more than Chipper Jones , who hit 23 home runs in 1995, giving Josh the National League record for most home runs by a rookie switch hitter!

Josh Bell Home Run | May 8, 2019 | MLB Advanced Media, LP

On May 8, 2019, Josh Bell hit a home run directly into the Allegheny River (472 feet / 114.9 MPH exit velocity), the fourth player in PNC Park history to hit a splash homer. On May 22, 2019, Bell hit another splash-homer directly into the Allegheny River (454 feet / 116.0 MPH exit velocity), the first ballplayer in history to do it twice in the same season.

On July 1, 2019, Josh Bell hit three home runs in a game. The Pittsburgh Pirates have had one lefty hit three home runs in a game ( Willie Stargell ) and nine righties hit three home runs in a game ( Ralph Kiner , Roman Mejias , Frank Thomas , Dick Stuart , Roberto Clemente , Bill Robinson , Darnell Coles , Aramis Ramirez , Andrew McCutchen ), and JB is now their first switch hitting Pirate with three homers in the same game .
