Curry Foley was born on Monday, January 14, 1856, in Milltown, Ireland. Foley was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on May 13, 1879, with the Boston Red Caps. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Curry Foley baseball stats page.

"Poor Curry Foley is dead. He passed away at his late residence, 20 Winchester Street, after an illness of many years duration. Despite the fact that he was bedridden for years, he bore his sufferings with remarkable fortitude. The funeral will take place from St. James Church, Harrison Avenue, Sunday, at 1:30. Foley was one of the most noted ball players of his day. He was not only a great pitcher, but an excellent all-around player. He was a very bright fellow, using superior judgement in his work. Not only did he excel as a ball player, but he made his mark as a writer. He had a wonderful memory, and his reminiscences of feats on the ball field were most interesting and entertaining. Charles J. Foley was born in Ireland , January 14, 1856, and came to this country in 1863, making Boston his home. He played ball with that crack team, the Stars of Boston, of which John Morrill and the late ( Alex ) McKinnon were members. In 1875 he joined the Lowell (Mass) professional club and played there for three seasons. He showed to such good advantage in games again the Bostons that he was secured by that club." - The Cincinnati Enquirer (22 October 1898. Death of a Ball Player Who Had Been in Bed For Years .
