Nomar Garciaparra was a two-time American League batting champion , hitting .357 in 1999 ( Top 25 ), and .372 in 2000 ( Top 25 ). His back-to-back batting titles were the first by a junior circuit right-handed batter since Joe DiMaggio did it in 1939 - 1940 !

On May 10, 1999 , Nomar Garciaparra hit two grand slams in the same game . He was the tenth player in Major League history to join the "club" and the first shortstop in Major League history to ever hit two slams in the same game !
