Did you know that when Paul Konerko won the League Championship Most Valuable Player Award in 2005, he was the first Chicago White Sox player to win an ALCS MVP ? Too easy? Did you know he was also the first first-baseman in the American League to win the ALCS MVP ?

Konerko went 0 for 4 in Game 1 , then 1 for 4 in Game 2 . In Game 3 , Konerko went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's - two of the RBI's came courtesy of a first inning home run. In Game 4 , Konerko was 1 for 4 with three RBI's, hitting another first inning home run. Then, in Game 5 , Konerko went 1 for 5 with yet another RBI and finished the ALCS with a .268 batting average, two home runs and seven RBI's.

Did you know that Paul Konerko was only the third player in Major League history to hit a home run in the first inning in consecutive games in the postseason, joining Dan Ford (1979 ALCS) and Carlos Beltran (2004 NLCS)?

After Konerko won the ALCS MVP he said, "I think you could split this four ways," referring to the starting pitchers who pitched four consecutive complete games in the Series- a record for the most complete games in a League Championship Series, and the first time any team had thrown four consecutive complete games in any postseason series since the 1956 New York Yankees threw five consecutive complete games in the 1956 World Series .

Did you know that Paul Konerko had a bit more postseason history for the White Sox in 2005, specifically during the 2005 World Series , in Game 2 , courtesy of a grand slam hit in the 7th inning off Chad Qualls ? The bases clearing grand salami was the first in White Sox World Series history.

Paul Konerko is one of only four players in Chicago White Sox history with 200+ home runs (in a White Sox uniform), second all-time behind Hall of Fame slugger Frank Thomas (448 HRs), and well-ahead of Harold Baines (221 HRs) and Carlton Fisk (214 HRs).

No Chicago White Sox player has accumulated as many total bases as Paul Konerko, who finished with 4,010, number two all-time is Frank Thomas , 3,949. In franchise history, Konerko is #2 in games played (2,268 / behind Luke Appling , 2,422), #2 in RBIs (1,383 / behind Frank Thomas , 1,465), and third all-time in at-bats, hits, and doubles.

Paul Konerko is also one of only four players in Chicago White Sox history to serve as captain of the team (which he did from 2006 through 2014), joining Luke Appling (1930 through 1950), Carlton Fisk (1990 through 1993) and Ozzie Guillen (1990 through 1997).
