Did you know that Rudy Minarcin threw eight one-hitters, once won ten consecutive games, and served as captain of his baseball team during his junior and senior year at North Vandergrift High School (1946 - 1947) in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania?

Richard Panchyk; author, editor and translator of 20+ books ( site ), interviewed Rudy Minarcin on October 2, 2013, just thirteen days before Buster died. Rudy was going to the doctor the next day to deal with blood clots in his legs and during the interview shared the following story, "At the end of the year [on September 29, 1956 ], when Boston bought me, I pitched in a game against the Yankees in the last couple of games and I won the game, I got a base hit in the tenth inning and I got two runs in and won the game, and instead of ending up in fourth place we ended up in third place and got a thousand bucks… I thought they wouldn’t give me anything because I only played there for a month."
