Jimmy Rollins was born on Monday, November 27, 1978, in Oakland, California. Rollins was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 17, 2000, with the Philadelphia Phillies. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Jimmy Rollins baseball stats page.

"The team always comes first and I've made that clear. That's what actually makes it (batting during the 2005 hitting streak) easier. I'm trying to help the team win. I try to be productive. If I can jump start it like today, that's a bonus. When you get a hit, that's a double bonus. If we lose and I keep the streak, what does that mean? The season is automatically over. The playoffs is everything. That's what we all want." - Jimmy Rollins on The Morning Call (Don Bostrom, 10/02/2005, 'Rollins would trade streak for playoffs', Source )

Did you know that Curtis Granderson and Jimmy Rollins were only the third and fourth Major League players in baseball history, respectively, to record twenty or more doubles, triples, home runs and stolen bases during the same season? In 2007, Granderson and Rollins joined Wildfire Schulte of the 1911 Chicago Cubs (30 2Bs, 21 3Bs, 21 HRs, 23 SBs), and Willie Mays of the 1957 San Francisco Giants (26 2Bs, 20 3Bs, 35 HRs, 38 SBs).

Jimmy Rollins (716 at-bats in 2007) was the fourth player in baseball history with 700-or-more at-bats during a single season, joining Willie Wilson (705 at-bats in 1980), Juan Samuel (701 at-bats in 1984), and Ichiro Suzuki (704 at-bats in 2004). No player, before or since, has ever had as many at-bats during a single season ! [ At-Bats Records ]

Only five players have ever taken the field at shortstop more often than Jimmy Rollins, who finished his career with 2,227 games played at short; they are hall of famer Cal Ripken, Jr. (2,302), hall of famer Ozzie Smith (2,511), hall of famer Luis Aparicio (2,581), future hall of famer Derek Jeter (2,674) and future hall of famer Omar Vizquel (2,709).
