"If the measure of a man's talent is how pumped-up people get when you bring up his name, then Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons might not merely be bound for greatness. He might be bound for Cooperstown. 'I get excited just talking about the kid,' said one longtime scout. 'He's incredible,' said his first baseman, Freddie Freeman. 'The balls he gets to. He's so quick. [When he throws to first], it's like the ball doesn't even go in his glove.' 'Exceptional athlete,' said his hitting coach, Greg Walker. 'His hand-eye is off the charts.' 'Great range. Great arm. Quick hands,' said Simmons' double-play partner, Dan Uggla. 'It's fun to watch him do his thing out there. The sky's the limit.'" - ESPN Senior Writer Jayson Stark (ESPN.com, 03/28/2013, 'What can't Andrelton Simmons do?', Source )

Did you know that when Andrelton Simmons won the Gold Glove Award at shortstop in 2013, he became the first Atlanta Braves shortstop to receive the prestigious honor?

Did you know that same year, Andrelton Simmons also won the National League Platinum Glove Award - given to the best defensive player of the year from each league? Fans select one player among the nine Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners from each League to receive the honor and Simmons was selected as the best defensive player in the entire National League that season and was the first shortstop from either league to ever receive a Platinum Glove Award !

Andrelton Simmons was the twelfth Major League player born in Curacao , the first from the town of Mundo Nobo, and he is "related" to Andruw Jones . How? Jones , aka The Curacao Kid , was the first player from Curacao to ever win a Gold Glove , doing so as an outfielder ten times (all consecutively), and Simmons was the first infielder to win a Gold Glove .

Andrelton Simmons was drafted in the second round, seventieth overall, in the 2010 . What's noteworthy about that? He was drafted as a pitcher, he could throw over 95 miles per hour, and he was the first player born in Curacao ever taken in the amateur baseball draft .

When Andrelton Simmons made his Major League debut on June 2, 2012 , he became the first player from Western Oklahoma State College to make it to the big leagues.
