Lane Michael Thomas is an active Major League Baseball player for the St. Louis Cardinals (2019). Lane graduated from Bearden High School (Knoxville, TN | Second MLB player , joining Mike DiFelice ) in 2014, committed to play at the University of Tennessee , but signed with the Toronto Blue Jays after being selected in the fifth round of the 2014 MLB Draft .

Lane Thomas made his Major League debut on April 17, 2019, a defensive replacement late in the game. Two days later, on April 19, 2019, in his first at-bat, Thomas hit an 0-1 Seth Lugo slider to over the right field wall, a homer in his first at-bat . The umpires reviewed the play and after 29 seconds, it was confirmed, making Thomas the first player to hit a home run in his first at bat , after an instant reply !
