This was the third Midsummer Classic played at Sportsman's Park and the American League now had a 2-1 lead on the National League field.

Did you know that this was the last Midsummer Classic played at Sportsman's Park? The July 12, 1966

The final inning near-comeback: Stan Musial walked, Willie Mays tripled, and a Jack Sanford wild pitch brought in two runs. Hank Foiles kept it alive by following with a single, Gus Bell walked, and an Ernie Banks single brought the game to within one run for the senior circuit. With two out and a man on second Gil Hodges came to the plate, but hit a HARD liner to left-center which was caught on the run by Minnie Minoso to preserve the victory.
