Georgia Southern University's baseball program started in 1933, Ken Szotkiewicz was the first former Eagle to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear in bold print are in the Georgia Southern University Hall of Fame.

Ken Szotkiewicz was first drafted in 1965, by the Phillies, but did not sign. He was drafted again in 1967, by the Twins, but did not sign. In 1968, Ken finally signed with the Detroit Tigers and became the second major league ballplayer whose last name starts with Sz (the first was Joe Szekely ).
