The UCLA baseball program started in 1920, Marv Gudat was the first former Bruin to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the University of California, Los Angeles Hall of Fame.

Did you know that there were eighty-three former University of California, Los Angeles ballplayers who made it to the major leagues (as well as three major leaguers who went to UCLA, but did not play for the Bruins; Roger Bowman , Ralph Mauriello , and Jerry Owens )? Send updates to Baseball Almanac .

The UCLA website had a list of twenty-five major reasons why attending UCLA is so special and this one caught our eye: 9. If you add the current UCLA professional players in major league baseball, pro football, pro basketball, pro soccer, tennis and pro beach volleyball, there are more Bruin representatives playing professionally than any other school by a wide margin.
