The University of Louisville baseball program started in 1940, Fred Koster was the first former Cardinal to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the University of Louisville Hall of Fame.
The first future Major League player, Doc Powers , attended Louisville first, did not play baseball, transferred to Holy Cross then finished school at Notre Dame before he became a big leaguer. Hod Kibbie also attended the University of Louisville, did not play, but made it to the show on June 13, 1925 .
