Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"He (Babe Herman [NL record holder for career cycles]) used to tell me to wait on the ball, wait a little longer and swing quick at the end. The gangly left-handed swinger could tell in batting practice when he was ready for a good night." - Teammate Cliff Dapper

Did you know that every single baseball player who has hit for the cycle in Major League history ( American League cycles | National League cycles ) and the date they did this amazing hitting feat—not to mention more than two hundred actual cycle box scores—is recorded here on Baseball Almanac?

During a two week span in 1933, Mickey Cochrane , Jimmie Foxx , and Pinky Higgins all hit for the cycle . So? All three of them were on the same team, the 1933 Philadelphia Athletics !

On June 3, 1932 , Tony Lazzeri (picture above) had a natural cycle that was also completed with a grand slam; however, this amazing event is often overlooked because it was the same game in which Lou Gehrig hit four home runs .
