New York Baseball Players

Major Leaguers Who Played with New York Mets AND Yankees

Baseball Almanac made a comprehensive list of players who PLAYED for both the New York Mets and New York Yankees in 2002, after receiving a research request.

Originally published on Baseball Fever, we have an updated version of that legendary list preserved here, with every major leaguer who wore both a Mets and Yankees uniform during their career.

"I'm over Strawberry . I'm over Mets . I'm over Yankees . I don't want to exist as Darryl Strawberry , the baseball player. People don't understand that's no longer you. I'm not a baseball player, anymore. That person is dead." - Darryl Strawberry in USA Today (Bob Nightengale, 07/11/2013, Pastor Strawberry says true calling ahead, not baseball , Full Story )

Played With Mets & Yankees | Research by Baseball Almanac

Did you know that are four managers who were skippers with the Mets and Yankees ? They are Yogi Berra , Dallas Green , Casey Stengel , Joe Torre .
There have been more than a dozen major leaguers who not only played for both New York teams, but actually suited-up for both the Mets and Yankees during the same identical season!
When Gene Woodling took the field on April 13, 1962 , he became the first player to ever wear both uniforms, having previously played with the Yankees from 1952 through 1954!
