300 Wins Club

Major League Baseball Pitchers With 300+ Career Wins

The 300 Wins Club is more of a personal plateau than an actual award given to any single pitcher. The passage of time has placed more significance on the attainment of this goal and memorabilia shows are often conducted and advertised using the term 300 Wins Club member.

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a detailed look at this truly elite club of powerful pitchers that few belong to, and many only dream of coming near. Note: A bold faced entry denotes that the player was active during the previous Major League season.

Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"Pitching has become tougher and more demanding and it's harder to throw consistently for as long a period as it would take to win three-hundred (300) games. It would take a tremendous amount of dedication to do that." - Former Pitcher & New York Yankees Pitching Coach Mel Stottlemyre

Pud Galvin was the first pitcher to reach the three-hundred wins plateau, but did you know that Kid Nichols was the youngest and Phil Niekro was the oldest?

Did you know that John Clarkson and Christy Mathewson are the only two pitchers to reach the three-hundred wins, before they appeared in five-hundred games?

Phil Niekro had fewer than two-hundred wins on his fortieth birthday, yet he managed to become the first - and through today - the only 300 Wins Club pitcher to toss a complete game shutout during his three-hundredth win!
