Fritz Ackley Stats

Fritz Ackley was born on Saturday, April 10, 1937, in Hayward, Wisconsin. Ackley was 26 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 21, 1963, with the Chicago White Sox. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Fritz Ackley baseball stats page.

"During (Fritz) Ackley's nine years of wandering through the minors, the parent club not only gave him a bus ticket Dubuque to Colorado Springs or Lincoln or Indianapolis, they also took out immediate insurance on the team clubhouse in whatever city Ackley was assigned. He wreaked more havoc on clubhouses than a gang of women at a Thursday morning rummage sale. The Lincoln hurler was once described by an umpire as 'the only pitcher alive who thinks every pitch he throws is a strike.'" - Sports Editor Hal Brown in The Lincoln Star (1964 March 21.
