On October 2, 1977 , Dusty Baker hit his thirtieth home run of the season, setting a personal record, and joining teammates Ron Cey (30 HRs), Steve Garvey (33 HRs) and Reggie Smith (32 HRs), each with 30-or-more home runs as well that season, making the 1977 Los Angeles Dodgers the first team in baseball history with four 30-home run hitters.

Did you know that when Dusty Baker won a Silver Slugger Award in 1980, one of the three best hitting National League outfielders ( Andre Dawson & George Hendrick ), he became the first Los Angeles Dodgers player - at any position - to win a Silver Slugger ?

Did you know that when Dusty won it again in 1981, he became, along with future Hall of Famer Andre Dawson , the first National League outfielder to win two consecutive Silver Sluggers ?

Trivia You Do Not Know: Who was the second Los Angeles Dodger to ever earn two Silver Sluggers ? [ Answer ]

Dusty Baker hung up his playing cleats after 19 years, then put on a manager's cap for the San Francisco Giants (1993-2002), Chicago Cubs (2003-2006), Cincinnati Reds Managers (2008-2013), and Washington Nationals (2016-2017). Baker had his share of controversy, but ultimately spent 22 years at the helm, winning 1,863 games losing 1,636, finishing in first or second place 13 times, and winning Manager of the Year Award three times!
