Josh Beckett went 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA in 2013, had numbness in his right hand that wouldn't go away, and needed to have a rib removed to repair an injury in his right shoulder. In Spring Training he said, "I'm going to throw as hard as I can and see what happens. I'll throw the ball until I blow out, and I'm hoping that's not for a few more years." Nine starts later, on May 25, 2014 , Beckett no-hit the Philadelphia Phillies .
