"They tell me all of 'em were after me, but as far as making contact, Chicago [Cubs] was real interested and also the Giants. Once they heard I was going to be signing for a bonus, a lot of teams just stayed away because they were averse to signing bonus ballplayers." - Reno Bertoia in Baseball's Bonus Babies: Conversations With 24 High-priced Ballplayers Signed from 1953 to 1957 (Brent P. Kelley, McFarland & Company Publishing, 03/10/2006, Page 5)

Did you know that Reno Bertoia was the first Minnesota Twins player to be traded? He was sent to the Kansas City Athletics on June 1, 1961, with pitcher Paul Giel and a player to be named later in exchange for outfielder Bill Tuttle and a player to be named later. The Twins sent cash to the Athletics on June 10, 1961, to complete the trade. The Athletics then sent Paul Giel (yes, the same player they had just traded for 9 days earlier) back to the Twins to complete the trade!
