Shane Robert Bieber is an active Major League Baseball player who pitches for the Cleveland Indians (2018-today). Shane was in Triple-A (Columbus Clippers) when he pitched a seven-inning rain-shortened no-hitter on May 25, 2018—the Indians noticed, called him up, and six days later he made his big league debut!
On July 9, 2019 , Shane Bieber, in a post game interview, said, "I don't really know what to think. Kind of lost all feeling in my body, but it's an incredible feeling now. Now that its kinda sinking in. Just to be able to do it in front of the home crowd, and my first All-Star Game is definitely not something I expected, especially being added to the game five days ago . Bieber had replaced Mike Minor on the American League roster for the 2019 All-Star Game , due to an injury. Bieber entered the game in relief, in the fifth inning, and struck out the side ( Willson Contreras , Ketel Marte , Ronald Acuna, Jr. ), earning him the All Star Game Most Valuable Player Award .
On July 24, 2020, Shane Bieber took the mound in an Opening Day game and came within one strikeout of the Major League Baseball record for most strikeouts in an Opening Day game ! During the post game press conference, teammate Oscar Mercado said, "I mean, I've honestly never seen anything like it. His ability to control both sides of the plate with all these pitches, throw any pitch in whatever count. He's a remarkable talent, and I'm glad he's on my team. It's fun watching him pitch."
