On Tuesday, April 8, 1969 , the San Diego Padres played their first game in Major League history, won their first game in Major League history (defeating the Houston Astros 2-1 in San Diego Stadium), and Ollie Brown was their first right fielder. In the bottom of the sixth inning, with Roberto Pena on first (who reached after being the first Friar hit by a pitch), Downtown Brown hit the first franchise double (with a little help from Don Wilson ).
