On July 3, 2020, Tyson Brummett was killed in an airplane crash in Alpine, Utah—the thirteenth former ballplayer to died in an airplane crash. Brummett became a pilot and Certified Flight Instructor after retiring from baseball, but passed away with three passengers after the plane he was piloting crashed into the mountains.
