Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"I was feeling so good at the dish, and to get hurt on a good swing, and something you dream about as a kid — hitting a home run in the big league — for my shoulder to blow out at that point, it was frustrating for sure. I mean, it's stuff I can't control though. It wasn't like there was something I didn't do, and that was the reason my shoulder didn't hold up. It was something out of my control. It happened, and I'm just trying to look at the big picture and get it healthy." - Darrell Ceciliani in The Madras Pioneer (Will Denner, Darrell Ceciliani has something left to prove , 04/11/2018)

Darrell Albert Ceciliani was a Major League Baseball player with the New York Mets ( 2015 ) and Toronto Blue Jays ( 2016 - 2017 ). When Ceciliani first stepped onto the field on May 19, 2015 , he became the first Madras High School (Madras, OR) graduate to reach the majors!

Did you know that when Darrell hit his second career home run, on May 18, 2017 , in the top of the third inning, off Julio Teheran , it was Ceciliani's last big league at-bat? Darrell blew out his left shoulder during the swing, requiring surgery in August 2017 to repair a torn labrum (see video below / quote at top). [ Home Run in Last At-Bat ]
