Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"He ( Ty Cobb ) was still fighting the Civil War, and as far as he was concerned we were all damn Yankees. But who knows, if he hadn't had that terrible persecution complex he never would've been about the best ballplayer who ever lived." - Sam Crawford in The 50 Most Dynamic Duos in Sports History (Robert W. Cohen, Taylor Trade Publishing, 01/07/2015, Page 54)

In 1883 Francis Richter founded the Sporting Life, a weekly magazine devoted to coverage of all sports, with an emphasis on baseball. In 1887 Richter, and other baseball journalists, formed the Base Ball Reporters Association of America, also referred to as the National Base Ball Reporters' Association.
