Did you know that when Mark Davis saved forty-four games for the San Diego Padres in 1989 , he had broken the single season team-record for most saves in a season set previously by a hall of fame pitcher who had thirty-saeven saves in 1978 ? Do you know who it was? [ Answer ]

Mark Davis not only led the National League in games saved in 1989 , but he also posted a 1.85 ERA in a league leading 65 games finished, earning the Cy Young Award , the third Friar to receive the honor - joining Randy Jones (1976) and Gaylord Perry (1978), making Mark their first relief pitcher to win!

Besides being former Major League players, what do Mark Davis, Alan Bannister , Dick Ruthven , Barry Bonnel , and Pat Burrell have in common? They are the only the only players taken with the first pick overall, in the first round of the baseball draft , by the Philadelphia Phillies .
