Did you know that Dave Duncan tied the Major League record for doubles in a game when he hit four on June 30, 1975 ? Did you know all four were hit off the same pitcher ( Luis Tiant )?

Did you know that Dave Duncan, when he made his Major League debut on May 6, 1964 , was the youngest player in the America League that season? The 18-year-old rookie was one of seven teenagers in the junior circuit in 1964 , along with six 19-year-old players; Blue Moon Odom , Wally Bunker , Dave Boswell , Tony Conigliaro , Tony Horton , and Ed Kirkpatrick .

Dave Duncan Hits Four Doubles | Beckley Post-Herald (Beckley, WV) | July 1, 1975 | Page 3
Dave Duncan was behind the plate catching for the Baltimore Orioles the day he hit four doubles in the same game. Before Duncan, only one Orioles player had hit four doubles in a game and it was another catcher! That record-establishing backstop was Charlie Lau , who hit four doubles on July 13, 1962 , two off Jim Perry and two off Frank Funk .

Shelley Duncan made his Major League debut in 2007 . His brother, Chris Duncan , had made his big league debut in 2005 . A father-and-son combination is hardly rare in baseball history ( Set 1 / Set 2 ), but Dave Duncan had two sons make it to the show! Fathers of two big league sons, before Chris & Shelley had each made their Major League debut, were: Sandy Alomar , Buddy Bell , Bob Boone , Jimmy Cooney , Larry Gilbert , Sammy Hairston , Jerry Hairston , Dave LaRoche , Manny Mota , George Sisler , Mel Stottlemyre and Dixe Walker .
