On August 1, 1953 , Harry Elliott made his Major League debut, pinch hit for Joe Presko , and struck out against Brooklyn Dodgers left-hander Preacher Roe . One month later, September 1, 1953 , Elliott gained a measure of revenge against Roe with three hits in four at bats, including his first career home run.
