Eddie Fisher Stats

Eddie Fisher was born on Thursday, July 16, 1936, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Fisher was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on June 22, 1959, with the San Francisco Giants. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Eddie Fisher baseball stats page.

"After three years of going up and down from the big leagues to the minors, he (Eddie Fisher) was traded to the White Sox in the deal which brought Billy Pierce to the Giants . After a couple of years of some spot-starting for Chicago , Eddie became one of the more durable relievers in the A.L. for several seasons. He learned how to throw the knuckleball from the master of the pitch, Hoyt Wilhelm , when the two were bullpen mates from the ChiSox." - Author Rich Marazzi in Baseball Players of the 1950s: A Biographical Dictionary of All 1,560 Major Leaguers (McFarland Publishing, 11/13/2009, Page 113)

Did you know that Eddie Fisher was the third pitcher in American League history to win at least fifteen games and save at least fifteen games during the same season, joining Luis Arroyo ( 1961 , 15 Wins, 29 Saves, New York Yankees ), Dick Radatz ( 1963 , 15 Wins, 23 Saves & 1964 , 16 Wins, 29 Saves, Boston Red Sox )? Fisher joined the "I Can Win Games and Save Games Club" in 1965 , winning 15 games, saving 24 games, and through today remains the only Chicago White Sox pitcher to accomplish this pitching feat.

Eddie Fisher was called from the bullpen a White Sox record eighty-two times in 1965, the first Pale Hose pitcher to ever take the mound more than eighty-times in the same season . No right-handed pitcher has ever broken Eddie's record, but one lefty did appear in a franchise high 88 games, the most ever in Chicago . Do you know who that record setting twirler was? [ Answer ]

The Sporting News once awarded the best reliever of the year with a Fireman of the Year Award , and for his efforts in 1965, Eddie Fisher received the honor, the first Chicago White Sox reliever to ever win Reliever of the Year Award . In 2011, the award was discontinued, making Fisher one of only five Pale Hose recipients.
