Did you know that Julio Franco was named one of the 100 Greatest Cleveland Indians Players ever? As part of the club’s 100th Anniversary Celebration in 2001, a panel of veteran baseball writers, historians and executives selected a roster of the Top 100 Greatest Indians and Franco was named one of the seven shortstops.

On April 20, 2006 , Julio Franco hit an eighth inning pinch-hit home run off San Diego Padres relief pitcher Scott Linebrink , setting a new Major League record for oldest player in baseball history to homer , once held by Jack Quinn . Methuselah would go on to break his own record twice more, posting twenty of the twenty-five marks for oldest player with a homer, and , set additional records for being the oldest player to hit a grand slam ( June 27, 2005 ), the oldest player with a multi-homer game ( June 18, 2005 )!

Julio Franco finished his career with 2,586 hits, the most by a Dominican -born player in Major League history. The first Dominican to pass Franco was Vladimir Guerrero (#3), who also held the mark for a short period, before he too was eventually passed by Adrian Beltre (#1) and Albert Pujols (#2).
