Jim Fregosi was the first Angels ' player in franchise history to hit for the cycle . On July 28, 1964 , he completed the cycle , the first player to do so in Dodger Stadium and then, on May 20, 1968 , he hit for the cycle a second time - becoming the first Angels ' player with two.

In 1966 , Jim Fregosi took the field in every game, only the second shortstop in American League history to field the position 162 times, joining Dick Howser . Fregosi committed the most errors in the junior circuit at short that season, but was also tops in assists, double plays, and range factor - earning him a Gold Glove Award , the first ever worn by an Angel .
