In 1996 , Todd Worrell became the first Los Angeles Dodgers closer to save 40-or-more games in a single season, establishing a new team record of forty-four saves. In 2002 , Eric Gagne became the first Dodger to save at least fifty games in a season, and one year later (in 2003 ), he saved a franchise record fifty-five games - a franchise record yet matched through today.

Did you know that Eric Gagne not only finished the 2003 season with 55 saves, but Game Over also struck out 137 batters across 82.1 innings pitched, and finished with a 1.20 earned run average - winning the Cy Young Awards ? Gagne, born in Canada , was the second Canadian -born pitcher to win a Cy Young - do you know who was first? [ Click Here For Answer ]

Tom Gordon saved a Major League record fifty-four consecutive games (1998-1999 / no blown saves), a total broken by Eric Gagne (2002-2004) - a pitching record so rare we built a baseball feat page for it over ten years ago! [ Eric Gagne Consecutive Saves Record ]
