Armando Antonio Galarraga Barreto was a Major League Baseball player who pitched for the Texas Rangers ( 2007 ), Detroit Tigers (2008-2010) Arizona Diamondbacks ( 2011 ) and Houston Astros ( 2012 ). Galarraga was originally signed by the Montreal Expos , given a few cups of coffee in Texas , then went 13-7 with 126 strikeouts in only 178.2 innings with Detroit , winning the Tiger Rookie of the Year Award !

On June 2, 2010 , Armando Galarraga pitched a perfect game . However, he did not even receive credit for a no-hitter . With two outs, in the bottom of the ninth inning, Galarraga threw his 83rd pitcher (67 of them were strikes) to Jason Donald who hit a ground ball to Miguel Cabrera who had to leave first base, but fielded the ball easily. Migugy tossed the ball back to Armando who moved to cover first base, and the runner was out by a full step. The umpire, Jim Joyce, called Donald safe, awarding him a hit, but later admitted after viewing the video, that he had made a bad call.
