Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"It's surreal, man. It really is. I'm truly blessed being from here, born here and watching all those guys play when I was little. To do something that's never been done ( Four Home Runs in a Game by a Cincinnati Reds Player), I don't know, I can't put words to it. It's an honor for sure. That's pretty crazy, man. Especially when you think of a guy like me, not a huge guy. But that's baseball. It's not how big or strong you are, it's how efficient and sometimes lucky." - Scooter Gennett (Mark Sheldon / MLB.com, 06/07/2017, Electric Scooter! Slam 1st of 4 historic HRs , Source )

Scooter Gennett hit four home runs in a game on June 6, 2017, joining an elite set of record-setting sluggers. Scooter was just the seventeenth player in Major League history to tie the record , a feat rarer than a perfect game , and he was the first Cincinnati Reds player to ever hit more than three home runs during a regular season game!

Scooter Gennett set a new Cincinnati Reds franchise record for grand slams in a season (four) in 2017, eclipsing the team record of three in a season held by six different players. Scooter, after hitting his fourth slam of the year, said "That sounds crazy. That's baseball, man. Anything can happen on any given day or any season. I'm just extremely blessed and very thankful to have the opportunity to play every day -- and crazy stuff can happen in this game." However, he wasn't talking about that record! A reporter had just told Ryan he was the first player in Major League history to hit four slams in a season AND record a four-homer game that same year !
