Jim Gilliam Stats

Jim Gilliam was born on Wednesday, October 17, 1928, in Nashville, Tennessee. Gilliam was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 14, 1953, with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Jim Gilliam baseball stats page.

"What a great team player he (Jim Gilliam) was. He'd hit behind Maury ( Wills ), take pitch after pitch after pitch. And when Maury got to second, he'd give himself up by hitting the ball to the right side, even with two strikes, which most hitters won't do." - Teammate Jeff Torborg (Eric Stephen, 01/26/2009, The All-Time LA Dodger Lineup: The Second Spot , Source )
