In 1983 , three-time All-Star Dan Quisenberry became the first Royals closer to save 40-or-more games in a season, setting a new single season record - forty-five saves - in Kansas City , a mark tied ten years later ( 1993 ) by Jeff Montgomery . Greg Holland tied Dan & Jeff as well, on September 23, 2013 , then broke the team-specific saves record on September 26th , finishing the year with a still-standing team record forty-seven saves!

A year after setting the franchise record, Greg Holland "only" saved forty-six games, two behind ( Top 25 ) the American League leading Fernando Rodney , who ended the year with 76 strikeouts and a 2.85 ERA. Holland ended the year with 90 strikeouts and an impressive 1.44 ERA, earning Greg the first-ever / MLB created Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year !

Greg Holland recorded a save in Game 1 of the 2014 American League Championship Series (ALCS). In Game 2 , a second save. In Game 3 , a third save. In Game 4 , a fourth save! Only the second pitcher in baseball history with four saves in four consecutive ALCS games! Do you know what hall of fame pitcher did it first? [ Answer ]
