Tim Hudson Stats

Tim Hudson was born on Monday, July 14, 1975, in Columbus, Georgia. Hudson was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on June 8, 1999, with the Oakland Athletics. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Tim Hudson baseball stats page.

"Watching him (Tim Hudson) the last couple of years, (his) fastball cuts and sails and sinks. Being a former catcher, I can understand how hard it is for anybody to catch him. I was watching the Discovery Channel or the Rodeo Channel late night and they were talking about the great bull, Bodacious, that only a few people ever rode. The owner had to retire him because he thought he was going to kill somebody. The cowboys were going, 'He's a tough ride. He bucks and turns.' I'm thinking 'That sounds like Hudson.'" - Atlanta Braves Third Base Coach Fredi Gonzalez (Jon Cooper, 05/02/2008, 'Bodacious T-shirts in demand,' Source )

Did you know that only eighteen pitchers in Major League Baseball history have earned a win against all thirty Major League teams? Sportswriter AJ Cassavell once wrote, " Beating one Major League team figures to be difficult enough for a starting pitcher. Beating all 30 of them, however, is nothing short of pitching history ." We agree and are pleased to present the I've Beaten Every Major League Team "club" that includes these 18 twirlers: Kevin Brown , A.J. Burnett , Bartolo Colon , Dan Haren , Tim Hudson , Randy Johnson , John Lackey , Al Leiter (who started the "club"), Kyle Lohse , Derek Lowe , Jamie Moyer , Terry Mulholland , Vicente Padilla , Max Scherzer , Curt Schilling , Javier Vazquez , Woody Williams and Barry Zito .

On April 25, 2014 , Tim Hudson walked Carlos Santana . Why is this even mentioned here? Because it was the first batter Hudson had walked since the start of the season, a Giants franchise record for most most innings pitched (30.2) from the start of the season without issuing a walk ( 2014 Game by Game Logs ). Hudson also became one of only three pitchers in the previous 100-years to start a season with four walk-free games (minimum of seven innings pitched in each game / Tim joined Grover Alexander and Tiny Bonham ).

Later that same year, on August 27, 2014 , Hudson recorded his 2,000th career strikeout ( Top 1,000 Career Strikeouts ). A year earlier, on April 30, 2013 , Hudson had recorded his 200th career win, becoming the 110th pitching in Major League history to reach the plateau ( Top 1,000 Career Wins ). Only 12 pitchers in baseball history - with 200+ wins and 2,000+ strikeouts - have a higher winning percentage (.625) than Hudson; Andy Pettitte (.626), Eddie Plank (.627), Juan Marichal (.631), Jim Palmer (.638), Mike Mussina (.638), Grover Alexander (.642), Randy Johnson (.646), Roger Clemens (.658), Roy Halladay (.659), Christy Mathewson (.665), Lefty Grove (.680) and Pedro Martinez (.687).

The Big Three | Oakland A's Starline Poster (2002) | Baseball Almanac Collection
Tim Hudson was a member of the Oakland Athletics "Big Three" - a trio of great starting pitchers (one of the best in baseball history) that included Mark Mulder and Barry Zito . Each of the three aces had a 20-win season with the A's , Hudson in 2000, Mulder in 2001, and Zito in 2002.
