Miller Huggins made his Major League debut on April 15, 1904, after playing baseball at the University of Cincinnati (1898 to 1903) and in the minors (1901 to 1903). Huggins studied law while playing for the Bearcats , was their first alumni to make it to the majors, but while in college, a future President of the United States told him, "You can become a pleader or a player, not both.
