When Frank Killen won 36 games in 1893 , he was not the first Pittsburgh Pirates ' twirler with a 30-win season, joining Pink Hawley (31 wins in 1895 ), and Ed Morris (41 wins in 1886 & 39 wins in 1885 ). Killen was, however, the last Bucs ' pitcher to ever win 30-or-more games in a season (30 wins in 1896 )!

Did you know that Frank Killen was the first Pirates ' pitcher to lead the National League in games won? Both of his 30-win seasons ( 1893 & 1896 ) were enough to lead the senior circuit! Hawley's 31-wins in 1895 ), were only good enough for second ( Top 25 ), behind Cy Young . Morris' 41 wins in 1886 were enough to lead the league, but the Pirates ( Alleghenys ) were in the American Association at that time in their history!
